SWISS gets its passengers in the festive mood
SWISS has lined up a number of specials and surprises for the Advent season to help get its customers in the festive mood. Families with children can book an exclusive flight to Lapland, the home of all the magic of Christmas; every day between 1 and 24 December one lucky passenger sitting in a ‘Golden Seat’ is being treated to extra-special service; and in addition to its traditional Christmas cookies, the airline will be serving special festive meals in all three seating classes.
SWISS is conjuring up some real Christmas magic this year. On Saturday 16 December a special SWISS flight operated with a Bombardier C Series aircraft will depart from Zurich for Levi in Lapland. The social media event will see some 20 families selected and flown to Finland’s far north to enjoy a colourful Christmas program.
“Golden Seats” on selected long-haul flights
Every day between 1 and 24 December one Economy Class passenger on a selected long-haul flight from Zurich or Geneva will be sitting in a “Golden Seat” that will entitle them to special service throughout their time aloft. The 24 lucky travellers, whose seats will have been chosen totally at random, will enjoy Business Class meals, a bottle of champagne, pralines, an amenity kit and further small gifts to make their flight a truly golden experience.
“Grittibänz”, Christmas cookies and special festive meals
SWISS customers travelling on European flights from Zurich on the morning of Wednesday 6 December will be served the traditional “Grittibänz” sweet dough figures, while several guests will receive further surprises to mark St. Nicholas’s Day. From 7 December onwards the usual Swiss Christmas specialties will be coming aboard, such as cookies and mandarins as an afternoon Economy Class snack on European flights. To further promote the true Advent mood, traditional Christmas cookies will be baked on board for First and Business Class travellers on daytime intercontinental flights departing from Switzerland between 13 and 19 December.
For the holiday period proper, from 20 to 26 December, SWISS’s long-haul guests will be offered special festive meals in all three seating classes. Economy Class travellers can look forward to breast of turkey with potato dumplings, red cabbage and cranberry compote; Business Class customers will enjoy corn-fed chicken with truffle sauce, bread dumplings, red cabbage and Brussels sprouts; and First Class guests will be treated to Filet Wellington with Perigord truffle sauce and vegetables. The seasonal fare will be further supplemented by a fine Christmas tea in First Class and a Christmas “Pflümli” in Business.
The popular SWISS chocolate tablets get a festive makeover, too: for the month of December they are being presented in a seasonally gold wrapping.
