The divine cottage boasts three bedrooms, a spacious bathroom, all-new kitchen and a fabulous studio. The fresh interior with open fireplace, plenty of natural light and a loft-bedroom makes this quaint lodging both cosy and captivating. Originally built between 1852-1858 as a cool summer residence by Adelaide politician and lawyer Arthur Hardy and re-built in the 1980s after the Ash Wednesday fires, today Mount Lofty House is regarded as one of Australia’s most outstanding country house hotels.
For guest accommodation, eight rooms in the original heritage wing and 25 rooms in the Piccadilly wing overlooking the Piccadilly Valley have all been loving and sensitively restored, bringing the total number of rooms and suites to 33. Additionally, the adjacent ‘Piccadilly Cottage’ accommodates up to five guests, and now the ‘Coachman’s Cottage’ adds accommodation for up to six guests.
Other features on-site include five hectares of gardens and vineyards (chardonnay + pinot noir vines), eight hectares of bushland, an outdoor swimming pool, billiards and snooker, volleyball court, flood lit tennis court, and a guest library where refreshments are served throughout the day.
