COMO’S Intrepid Young Travellers

??????????????

COMO Hotels and Resorts is launching its first family-oriented ‘COMO Discovery Retreat’ at its Bali property Uma by COMO in Ubud, in partnership with the Julia Gabriel Centre, the pioneers in speech, drama and early childhood education in Asia. The program is a six-night retreat running from 14 to 20 June, 2013. Titled ‘The Quest for Answers’, the retreat is aimed at four to nine year olds, but younger siblings are also welcome. There is a 2.5 hour session with the centre each day and a further three activity sessions over the 5 days with options including a visit to a local home or family yoga.

The deal, which includes 6 nights’ accommodation, some meals and the activity sessions, starts at US$1600pp double occupancy in a Terrace Room, plus US$1100 for the participating child but there is no charge for under 4s.

Pool suite rates are an extra $400pp double occupancy and ideal for a family, sleeping four.

Excursions and activities led by Uma’s expert guides, taking advantage of Bali’s rich cultural and natural heritage, will be complemented by workshops for children run by Mark and Agnes Gabriel, two senior teachers from Julia Gabriel Centre who both hold postgraduate degrees in education from Cambridge University. Through exciting drama exercises, problem-solving challenges, arts-based activities and an exploration of selected literature, the workshops will encourage the children’s curiosity while challenging them to collaborate and communicate creatively about their experiences.

The parent and child-friendly programme allows parents great flexibility, offering family activity as well as opportunity to relax. Parents may choose restorative therapies at the award-winning COMO Shambhala Retreat or culinary, cultural and shopping excursions in Ubud and its surrounding villages. Alternatively parents and children can enjoy customised art tours, kite making or visit a traditional Balinese home. On two nights during the Retreat, parents may also dine at either of Uma’s restaurants while the children are entertained and carefully supervised at an optional ‘indoor camping’ evening activity.

Book before 1 April for a resort credit of US$150 per booking per family.
