International Picnic Day falls on 18 June this year and The Peninsula Hotels is joining in the fun with a collection of bespoke picnics year-round which can be tailor-made to suit families. Unique picnic destinations on offer include the Great Wall of China, Central Park, secluded Hong Kong beaches, Hollywood Bowl concerts and under the cherry blossoms of Imperial Palace Gardens in Tokyo.
Using stylish hampers, blankets, china, glass and cutlery, all Academy picnics are served by Peninsula Pages, the iconic symbol of every Peninsula hotel around the world. Breakfast and lunch boxes are available at all hotels through Room Service, and can be customised to guests’ requirements.
As part of the hotel group’s newly re-imagined Peninsula Academy activity programme, The Peninsula Hong Kong flies guests by helicopter from its rooftop helipad to a stunning secluded beach – accessible only by sea, air or a three-hour hike – for a luxury picnic, before returning to the hotel by private yacht and Rolls-Royce.
The Peninsula Beijing offers picnics on the Great Wall or the Houhai hutong heritage neighbourhood, while The Peninsula New York features its ‘Taste of Central Park: Botanical Tour and Picnic’ programme. Meanwhile The Peninsula Manila provides a unique picnic experience on a balsa, or bamboo raft on a lake at the private Villa Escudero coconut plantation.www.peninsula.com
