Strawberry compotes, chocolate biscuits and a decadent panna cotta are all set for the annual couture makeover inspired by the world’s top fashion designers, as The Berkeley in Knightsbridge launches its new Spring/Summer 2013 Prêt-à-Portea collection. This seasons’ Prêt-à-Portea at The Berkeley includes fashionista delectables such as Jason Wu’s coconut ‘Carolyn’ hatbox shaped cake bag sandwiched in retro leopard print chocolate, and Prada’s Geisha-like white chocolate and Grand Marnier oversized coat embellished with red poppies. The highlight of the season is Alexander McQueen’s whimsical yellow honeycomb cream oversized dress topped with a marzipan bee.
The Berkeley pastry chefs visit London fashion week shows to get their inspiration for the colours and the textures of the new collections. Prêt-à-Portea will echo the season’s trends of polka dot and stripe prints, monochrome and flower power.
Also featured this season is Balenciaga’s modern monochrome dark and white chocolate mousse dress set on a pine nut brownie topped with flamenco ruffles adding timeless glamour to this summer’s most fabulous parties.
Whatever the British weather, Oscar de la Renta’s playful high waisted peach-pink bavarois shorts embellished with strawberry compote rosettes guarantees to bring sunshine to those summer shower days, while the Dolce & Gabbana’s Sicilian chic pistachio green and vanilla stripped panna cotta dress topped with a chocolate ring promises to bring a hint of humour and Mediterranean charm to the table. Tory Burch’s glamorous violet bikini biscuit with magenta icing is the perfect pool-side accessory whilst Jonathan Saunder’s eye-popping ombre polka dot lemon and orange blossom dome shift dress set on a short bread biscuit makes casual dressing an art form.
Stepping out in style this summer is Manolo Blahnik’s slingback chocolate biscuit heel with baby blue icing topped with timeless pearls promising to bring elegance and charm to any outfit this summer. www.the-berkeley.co.uk/
