Two of the world’s most glamorous and luxurious modes of travel- the Rovos Rail train in South Africa and Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 will feature in a ‘Pride of Africa’ Rail and Sail package offered by Australian cruise agency, Cruise Express, next January.
The ‘Pride of Africa’ Rail and Sail package is available from 23 to 31 nights, depending on the Australian city of disembarkation, and includes the flight to Johannesburg, internal flights in South Africa, five nights’ hotel accommodation, two nights with all meals aboard the Rovos Rail train, 18 meals in South Africa and all main meals onboard QM2, guided sightseeing and the voyage back to Australia. Prices range from $11690 to $13,290 per person, twin-share depending on city of disembarkation with upgrades to business class flights available for $2690 per person.
While travelling on the ‘Pride of Africa’ guests will stay in a double-bedded suite while they enjoy gourmet cuisine, stylish Edwardian furnishings, crisp linen, fine china and elegant afternoon teas during the journey. Deluxe lounges, restaurant carriage and observation cars will provide views of flamingo-filled lakes, the ‘Diamond City’ of Kimberley- home to the world’s largest man-made excavation, the ‘Big Hole’- and the World Heritage-listed town of Matjiesfontein, famous for its Victorian architecture.
Queen Mary 2 offers passengers 13 bars, 10 restaurants, five pools, an 8000-book library, the only planetarium at sea and a grand ballroom renowned for its black tie affairs and high teas.
