Australian and Pacific expansion for Starwood

Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to expand in Australia and the Pacific, opening six new hotels and resorts in the region this year. The vigorous growth will be fuelled by Sheraton, as well as through an industry partnership between Starwood Preferred Guest® (Starwood’s loyalty program) and Virgin Australia. The latter allows SPG members to exchange their Starpoints® to Velocity Frequent Flyer Points on a one-for-one transfer basis.

The six properties to open include Sheraton Melbourne Hotel and a Four Points in Brisbane; Sheraton Resort & Spa, Tokoriki Island, Fiji; Sheraton New Caledonia Deva Resort & Spa; and two offerings in Samoa.

This development follows increased popularity in travel in the Australian-Pacific region, with Starwood noticing a demand for new lodging in Australia. Each development will boast the signature comforts the Sheraton brand is famed for, with each property reflecting the strengths of their unique locations, whether it be the white stretches of beach in Samoa or Melbourne’s city-chic style.
