Le Méridien reinvents the éclair

In line with National Chocolate Éclair Day (22 June), Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts this week announced the launch of its first-ever global éclair programme, seeing it partner with award-winning pastry chef, Johnny Iuzzini. The hotel group will offer guests a variety of modern twists on the chic Parisian treat, including both classic tastes and unique destination-inspired creations. Each hotel will offer modern takes on the signature flavours of coffee, chocolate and vanilla, and create one locally-infused treat, such as the Dulce de Leche Éclair, infused with coconut at Le Méridien Panama. Across the globe the company will also host exciting on-property events and offers that celebrate the French treat.

Through this unique culinary collaboration, Chef Iuzzini will create eight signature éclair recipes exclusively for Le Méridien over the next 12 months, inspired by a global tour of select Le Méridien destinations. Éclair Diaries will start in San Francisco on 10 July where Chef Iuzzini will travel around the city and discover the region by motorcycle to uncover local flavours and find inspiration for his autumn 2014 éclair recipe. Chef Iuzzini’s recipes will then be unveiled at a special event in New York City on 29 July. Johnny’s Éclair Diaries will continue throughout 2014 and 2015.
