Myanmar has been increasingly opening its doors to travellers, and Abercrombie & Kent’s new all-suite ship, Sanctuary Ananda, launching in November, is set to offer an unrivalled high-end experience through the region. Venturing on the Ayeyarwady River, the exclusive vessel caters for no more than 48 guests, with interiors so spacious they provide the feel of a floating five-star hotel. The ship will service multiple journeys that range from three to 11 nights in length. These will explore the waters between Bagan and Mandalay and beyond. It will also cruise the Chindwin River and the Lower Ayeyarwady to Pyay, calling in at Yangon twice each year.
Prices for A&K’s 11-day ‘Myanmar in Style’ itinerary start from $6695 per person twin share, and $9145 for solo travellers. This incorporates a four-night cruise on board Sanctuary Ananda.
Highlights of this tour include temples, pagodas, palaces and monasteries, as well as places rarely seen before – the jungles of the north, forgotten villages and ancient towns close to the Indian and Chinese borders. During the cruises there will be unique cultural inclusions such as performances of traditional music and dance, ethnic dinners, lectures, cooking demonstrations, yoga, meditation and cigar making lessons.
