Every summer, 60,000 film buffs and movie lovers descend on the harbour foreshore at Mrs Macquarie’s Chair to see their favourite stars against an open-air backdrop of Sydney’s finest views. St George OpenAir Cinema is one of the season’s highlights, sold out within hours, with a parade of new release, preview and classic films showing on a 350sqm screen hydraulically raised three storeys above the water.

Adding to the opulence is its partnership with InterContinental Sydney, one of the city’s premier hotels with boasting some of its finest views. A select group of media representatives, including LATTE, were invited to sample a taste of what InterContinental’s Club guests will experience when they combine the magic of the OpenAir Cinema (showing ‘The Imitation Game’) with the hotel’s service and style.

Pre-cinema drinks and hearty canapés were taken in the rooftop Club Lounge, home to the highest outdoor hotel balcony in Sydney. A view of the growing buzz over at the cinema precinct was an ideal backdrop to the refined Club atmosphere; the hotel is a short walk from the Royal Botanic Gardens and the cinema, and is perfectly located for an early evening stroll to Mrs Macquarie’s Chair.

For the remainder of the OpenAir Cinema season (until 21 February 2015), InterContinental will be offering A Night with the Stars package for true movie fans, including overnight accommodation, two tickets to that evening’s screening and valet parking, priced from $469.
