The Langham, Sydney reveals its completed new experience

After an incredible redevelopment process at the end of 2014, The Langham, Sydney is officially revealing what Australia’s newest and most exclusive five-star hotel looks like post its multi-million dollar redesign.

Langham Hospitality Group purchased The Langham, Sydney back in 2012 from Orient Express, and they have managed to complete all its anticipated redevelopments in four short months – one of the country’s slickest, fastest hotel development projects to date. The reveal proves that Sydney is a destination the encompasses the aspirational romance of other major city hotspots, enough to rival the allure of London, Paris and New York.

The new offerings span a dramatic arrival experience, mixology with jazz after 5pm, the biggest guestrooms in Sydney, signature terraces with water views, take-away picnic boxes, pink bicycles and bespoke maps for local touring, a million-dollar Sotheby’s art collection, dog-friendly suites, private butler tennis afternoons… it doesn’t get quite as luxuriously unique as this in Sydney.

GA Design out of London played a critical part in designing every detail including every room, structure, interior fit out and each piece of furniture. From the gold and white shellac finish on the reception desk, to the multi-million dollar spa redesign, to the expansive marble fireplaces in each public space, to each chair, table, coffee table, bed head, chandelier, handmade rug, interior fit out and lamp shade.

Social Sydney isn’t forgotten with new lifestyle market additions; Palm Court hosts an opulent tea room overlooking the Western Harbour through Parisian style shutters, serving Afternoon Tea with Wedgwood; from late afternoon onwards, Palm Court Bar treats Sydneysiders to gastronomic cocktails and jazz with some of Europe’s finest mixologists behind the bar; soon to be launched Private Butler Tennis Afternoons on the hotel’s city-scape tennis court – finish in your tennis whites with cucumber sandwiches and Pimms & Lemonade; and brand new foodie offering, Kent Street Kitchen led by Chef de Cuisine, Daniel Rudolph [formerly of est. and Guy Savoy Paris] serving a European chic menu and featuring one of Sydney’s most beautiful Chef’s Table’s – a three metre white marble table in the middle of an open Chef’s kitchen.

One of Sydney’s most famous spa facilities, The Day Spa, located at the hotel has received a multi-million dollar re-design of its own. The famous pool, recently voted Sydney’s No 1. Hotel Pool by Wotif travellers, remains intact, being the only element of the hotel that was not changed.

Since doors re-opened at the end of 2014, the hotel has been in soft open phase, allowing a three month period to test the property’s capabilities and perfect service, before official launch takes place this month.

Rooms now start from $635 per night.
