Have you ever sat through a meeting wishing you were somewhere else? Marriott International aims to change that, officially launching its new website Meetings Imagined at Hotel Pier One on Thursday 25 June.

Peggy Fang Roe, Chief of Sales and Marketing for Asia Pacific, welcomed LATTE and other guests into an intimate glass-walled boardroom, to showcase the interactive meeting research and planning website, which will assist event planners in organising and implementing meetings and corporate events.

“Meetings Imagined now gives event planners the tools, inspiration and ideas to plan great events” said Ms Fang Roe.

With a Pinterest-style approach, users can pin, share or comment on images that inspire them. Peggy explains the website will help planners at any stage, whether they’re simply looking for ideas, or are ready to book.

In addition to the Australian launch of Meetings Imagined, Peggy announced the introduction of Marriott International’s new texting platform, which connects event planners directly to hotel staff during an event. Whether it be the banquet manager or engineering department, guests can simply send a text and their coffee break can be moved forward half an hour to satisfy the wanning attention spans of delegates, or directly reach the engineering department to turn the air-conditioning down.

Marriott International is currently testing the Meetings Imagined website across 100 of their hotels in Asia Pacific and the texting platform in two Australian properties, planning to roll out across all Australian properties by the end of 2015.

For those who find themselves fidgeting, checking their phone frequently or staring out a window, Marriott International have bought in performance coach Matt Griggs, who focuses on peoples strengths to drive performance.

Looking at the mind, Griggs promotes a holistic approach, highlighting kelee meditation, breathing exercises and practicing mental awareness during meetings, for attendees to get the most out of the experience.

Mr Grigg’s services can be used as a meditation break out, or simply getting people up and out of chairs every 30 minutes to keep their minds fresh.

Ensuring the purpose of the meeting is clear and key learnings are understood by delegates will deliver the best result.

Mr Griggs rounded off the evening with a thought-evoking reflection, “the person who wants to be there the most will get the best result.”
