Award-winning Australian tour operator APT is celebrating over 50 years of outback touring, and more than 40 years in the Kimberley, with the launch of its new Kimberley Wilderness Adventures programme. Announced early to help agents capitalise on budding interest in the destination, as well as carrying all of APT’s best-selling itineraries, the 2016 programme features a new tour.

The 15-day Kimberley Challenge small-group 4WD adventure is based on APT’s most popular 15-day Kimberley Complete tour but offers a selection of more extreme hikes. Designed to cater for active adventure-seekers looking to get further off the beaten track, this tour requires guests to be regular bushwalkers who are confident and able to tackle some of the more demanding terrain.

Priced from $8795pp twin share, highlights of the new tour include walks through the famous Bell Gorge; a hike to the end of stunning Manning Gorge; a 6-hour rainforest trek through El Questro Gorge; and the chance to experience the depths of the Bungle Bungle Range.

Inclusive of the new itinerary, the latest APT Kimberley Wilderness Adventures 2016 brochure showcases a selection of 20 tours.

Also new for 2016 is a 4-day independent Broome package including a visit to Willie Creek Pearl Farm, a camel ride on Cable Beach and a wildlife tour. This can be added to any Kimberley tour and APT believes it will prove to be an especially popular extension.

Guests who choose to explore the Kimberley with APT travel in small groups of no more than 20 people. Staying at APT’s exclusive network of Wilderness Lodges, they travel through the region in custom-designed 4WD vehicles and are escorted by expert driver-guides throughout their tour.

Commenting on the new brochure, Rob Tandy, General Manager of APT’s Kimberley Wilderness Adventures said, “Our travel agency partners tell us they are seeing a growing trend for clients wanting to book the Kimberley earlier to secure their spots. As well as releasing our programme a month earlier, we’ve also responded by offering a range of exciting early booking deals to help our industry partners get more bookings across the line.

“In addition we’ve broadened the appeal of our tours to reach a different demographic. It’s a move that we think will prove really popular and we look forward to working with the trade to encourage more people to come and experience this amazing destination,” he added.
