Chile Earthquake Update

World Journeys have communicated with their operators in Chile who report that despite the magnitude of the recent earthquake, client travel arrangements have not been affected. Santiago and its surrounds, San Pedro de Atacama, Puerto Varas and Patagonia are fully operative, with hotels and tourist services being unaffected.  Chile’s connectivity by air and land is running normally and Santiago airport is fully operative, but some flights may be delayed or rescheduled in the short term.  World Journeys say they are relieved and confident that clients’ travel arrangements are in safe hands, but feel very much for the Chilean people in the affected areas who suffered loss, property damage and great disruption to their lives.

Kenyan Visas

World Journeys would like to assure agents that currently Kenya is still accepting Visa-on-arrival for those who have been unable to process E-visas. The wholesaler has however heard of successful applications for the new E-visas, with some being approved within 24 hours. The cost is US$51 for a single-entry tourist visa, valid for 90 days from the date of approval (not from the date of arrival in Kenya).  The E-Visa system at present only accepts Debit or Pre-Paid Cards. It does not yet accept Credit cards but may well do so soon.  Agents can apply for e-visas on their clients’ behalf, by simply completing the application with all the clients’ details, but using their own company email address.  To ease in the new system, at least until end October, there will be E-visa Kiosks at JKIA (Nairobi) Airport allowing visitors who arrive without a visa to apply for the E-visa on arrival and receive real time approval (this is not a recommended option as delays could be experienced). Travellers may leave Kenya to go to other East African Community countries (ie Tanzania including Zanzibar, Rwanda and Uganda) and return to Kenya on the same single entry visa. You will still need to get separate visas for these other countries unless you get an East African visa which can only be applied for on arrival.
