APT’s Jane Ballantyne is half way through a journey that has seen her drive across four states to bring a taste of the Kimberley to the travel industry and prospective guests in South Australia and Victoria.
Driving one of APT’s custom built 13-tonne Mercedes 4WD coaches, Kimberley and Outback Wilderness Adventures (KOWA) Tour Operations Manager, Jane has driven from Darwin via the Red Centre and Great Ocean Road to Melbourne, covering thousands of kilometres in the process.
Jane’s journey has been punctuated with stops at APT’s consumer travel expos, the APT head office in Melbourne and also at travel agencies along the way to demonstrate the specially designed vehicle to prospective guests considering a trip with the award winner travel operator to the Outback.
Commenting on the journey, Rob Tandy, General Manager of APT’s Kimberley and Outback Wilderness Adventures said, “Jane is one of our most experienced drivers and on behalf of our KOWA team, she was keen to give guests the opportunity to really get a feel for the style of outback touring that we offer at APT.
“Having Jane available to travel agents and their clients at our expos has been an invaluable experience. As well as being on hand to answer questions, Jane has been able to take them on board our vehicle to demonstrate that as well as experiencing our exciting itineraries, they will also travel the Outback in style too. Feedback from our industry partners and our staff has been really positive. They’ve all been really impressed to have the opportunity to see for themselves what this style of touring is all about,” he said.
Jane is now on her way back to the Kimberley, stopping in Adelaide to visit more travel agencies before taking the APT vehicle via Perth back to Broome for its next departure.
