Secret Retreats is delighted to start 2016 with the addition of five new properties to its collection. These inclusions expand the Secret Retreats’ portfolio into 15 Asian countries to now host 75 beautiful, boutique properties across the region.

“With the addition of Sri Lanka as a new destination in our collection, Secret Retreats is now present in every country around Asia. Our goal to gather the 100 best small boutique hotels across Asia is getting closer. We are now concentrating our efforts in the preparation of packages combining our properties and on a foundation to support sustainable actions initiated by our members,” said Stéphane Junca, Director of Secret Retreats.

Secret Retreats’ five new members:

Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris – Yala and Wilpattu Parks, Sri Lanka

Using stylish South African tents, both camps are located in two major national parks: Yala and Wilpattu. The campsites are made up of non-permanent structures, ensuring minimal impact on the parks, complete with comfortable king-sized beds and a range of modern comforts and allowing privacy.

Glenburn Tea Estate – Darjeeling, India

Glenburn is a plantation retreat that lies on a hillock above the banks of the River Rungeet, high in the Himalayas, overlooked by the mighty Kanchenjunga mountain range, with views of the world’s third-largest mountain. Started by a Scottish tea company in 1859, Glenburn then passed into the hands of one of India’s pioneering tea planting families – The Prakashes, also known as the “Chaiwala family” – which means “tea planters”.

Sandat Glamping Tents – Ubud, Bali, Indonesia

Situated only five kilometres from Ubud centre, immersed in nature with the experience of five safari-tents and three rice-barns (eco-lumbung). Blending east with west, and complemented by distinctive Italian touches, each accommodation has its own unique décor, replete with all the modern comforts including king-size bed, ensuite bathroom and a deck with an infinity pool that overlooks forests and the river, featuring all the elements that define the very best of glamping.

Khwan Beach Resort – Koh Samui, Thailand

Opening in 2015, situated on Maenam Beach, Khwan Beach Resort is the only boutique and gallery hotel in Koh Samui. Offering a perfect romantic retreat in one of seven, private swimming pool villas or suites overlooking the bay and Koh Phangan.

Luang Say Cruise & Lodge – Mekong River, North Laos

Luang Say’s custom built riverboats offer a opportunity to learn more about life and nature along the legendary Mekong River. Travelling between Huay Xai to Luang Prabang, each of the three boats is 34 metres long and has a 40 person capacity. During the cruise, guests will spend one night at the Luang Say Lodge – set along the banks of the Mekong River.
