Starwood expands with 10 New York hotels

Starwood Hotels & Resorts announced on 3 February 2016 that it will significantly expand its portfolio of Specialty Select brands in New York State in the next three years, with the bulk of that growth taking place in the New York City metropolitan area. Starwood will grow its portfolio in New York from 12 to 22 hotels by the end of 2018 across its Aloft, Element and Four Points brands – an increase of more than 80 per cent.

Upcoming openings in New York State include:

Four Points New York Downtown

The brand’s fourth hotel in Manhattan, Four Points New York Downtown offers 261 spacious guest rooms, 185-square metre of market-leading meeting facilities and full-service dining at The Ketch Brewhouse.

Aloft Syracuse Inner Harbor

Aloft Syracuse Inner Harbor will debut in June 2016 within the redeveloped Inner Harbor – a 12-hectare waterfront property including educational facilities and several mixed-use complexes with office, retail and residential components.

Four Points Manhattan Hudson Yards

Located at 444 10th Avenue, Four Points Hudson Yards will debut in September 2016 in Manhattan’s redeveloped Hudson Yards district on the far West side. The new Four Points will feature 150 guest rooms, 46-square metres of flexible meeting space, a fully equipped fitness centre, a business centre, fast and free Wi-Fi throughout the property and a selection of craft and imported brews as part of the brand’s signature Best Brews program.

Aloft Long Island City

Opening in December 2016 just across the East River from Manhattan and easily accessible from both LaGuardia Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport, Aloft Long Island City will be within close proximity of art galleries, shops and restaurants and a subway ride to all of the city’s top attractions such as Times Square, Empire State Building and Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Aloft New York LaGuardia Airport

Opening in February 2017, this Aloft will be located directly across from LaGuardia Airport and adjacent to Grand Central Parkway and the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway and within close proximity to both Long Island and Manhattan. Nearby attractions include The USTA National Tennis Center, Citi Field and Yankee Stadium.

Aloft New York Midtown

Boasting 360-degree views of midtown Manhattan, the 27-story Aloft New York Midtown will debut in Dece,ber 2-17, featuring 176 spacious loft-style rooms, a tech-forward mindset, innovative brand programming and easy access to the city’s top attractions. The new Aloft will boast a prime location on 38th Street just off 5th Avenue, walking distance to Bryant Park, Rockefeller Centre, the Empire State Building, the Times Square Broadway Theatre District, Madison Square Garden, and Lord & Taylor’s flagship store.

Four Points Flushing

Just ten minutes from LaGuardia Airport, Four Points Flushing will open in April 2018 and will feature 178 guest rooms, 1,585 of state-of-the-art meeting space, full-service dining and all the brand’s signature amenities and services such as a 24-hour fitness centre, a business centre and fast and free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.

Element Syracuse Inner Harbor

The 123-room Element Syracuse Inner Harbor will be part of a massive waterfront redevelopment project along the former Barge Canal. Opening in May 2018, it will be located adjacent to Aloft Syracuse Inner Harbor, set to open in 2016, the new Element will be a short walk to Destiny USA Centre – a major shopping and entertainment destination with more than 121,000-square metres of outlets, restaurants and retail stores.

Element Spring Valley

Element Spring Valley, opening September 2018, will boast a prime location in the Spring Valley Marketplace, a shopping centre with more than 25 shops and restaurants. Easily accessible from I-87, I-287 and the Garden State Parkway, the new Element will feature 87 rooms, 46-square metres of meeting space and all the brand’s signature services and amenities including complimentary bikes to borrow, the Element Rise breakfast and Relax evening reception.
