As the weather gets cooler, the fun heats up at New Zealand’s top luxury lodges, The Farm at Cape Kidnappers and The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs, as this year’s Food, Wine, Golf  + Design Weekend Event Series swings in to gear for 2016.

The series kicks off with the Moët & Chandon Ladies Golf Classic from 29 April to 1 May at The Farm at Cape Kidnappers. Planned for players of all levels, this friendly competition weaves in champagne, two days of golf and fabulous dining, with time to enjoy the beauty of the ‘Farm’ and fun time with friends.

Next is a weekend for food and wine enthusiasts on Saturday 7 May at The Farm at Cape Kidnappers, with the promise of something much more than a dining experience. Chef James Viles from acclaimed restaurant Biota in Bowral, NSW lives and breathes local and artisanal ingredients, so expect some hands-on adventure with James in the Cape Kidnappers vegetable garden, paired with Pyramid Valley wines. Claudia Weersing from Pyramid Valley will be at the Farm to conduct tastings and talk on the wine matches at dinner.

Fine champagne takes centre stage at The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs on Saturday 21 May with the ultimate prestige brand’s Dom Pérignon Dinner. A four-course dinner prepared by Kauri Cliffs Executive Chef Barry Frith, with matches of Dom Pérignon vintages with each course. The P2-1998 vintage Dom Pérignon will be just one of many champagnes that Dom’s brand ambassador will take guests through at dinner.

On Saturday 4 June, The Farm at Cape Kidnappers welcomes one of New Zealand’s star chefs, James Stapley. Formerly of Whare Kea Lodge, UK-trained James is now creating a big name for himself in Wanaka at Bistro Gentil, where his vegetable garden, berry house and greenhouse form the basis of his super fresh menus. James will be in his element with The Farm at Cape Kidnappeers homegrown bounty. His gorgeous dinner will be matched to wines from one of his favourites, New Zealand’s own Pegasus Bay, and Paul Donaldson will be on hand to take diners through his family’s wines.

Saturday 16 July sees 12 of New Zealand’s artisinal wineries come together in one breathtaking setting. The Farm at Cape Kidnappers will play host to the ‘Family of Twelve’ Wine Dinner, when host William Hoare from Fromm Winery presents wines from 12 of New Zealand’s best – Kumeu River, Villa Maria, The Milton Vineyard, Craggy Range, Ata Rangi, Palliser Estate, Neudorf Vineyards, Nautilus Estate, Fromm Winery, Lawson’s Dry Hills, Pegasus Bay, and Felton Road – all matched to a dinner menu by Cape Kidnappers Executive Chef James Honore.

Interior Design and garden aficionados will want to head to Hawke’s Bay for the 19 – 21 August weekend when Paul Bangay and Thomas Hamel host a weekend at The Farm at Cape Kidnappers. Garden and design talks, property and lodge walks discussing the foliage and interiors, and an excursion in to Hawke’s Bay with a design focus will be on the menu.

Celebrity Chef Neil Perry returns to The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs from 9 – 11 September for a fabulous culinary weekend. Neil will cook dishes from his Rockpool Group of Restaurants as well as share his home cooking secrets at a cooking demonstration at the Lodge.

Golfers will want to reserve the last weekend in October for the Spring Pairs Golf Tournament at The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs. Set for 21 – 24 October the weekend is open to just 26 pairings who will join in a Stableford competition over two days and 36 holes of golf.

The event series weekends are available at special event rates.
