With new high-tech upgrades, refurbished meeting spaces on the way and the Elizabeth Quay development now open, the future has never looked brighter for the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.

PCEC General Manager Nigel Keen said the purpose-built venue already attracts major international events, but the planned upgrades will increase the versatility and vibrancy of the facility. “The Centre is a modern building in itself, having opened in 2004, and these upgrades prove our commitment to ensuring we are at the forefront of our industry,” he said.

A building enhancement project has already seen a refurbishment and upgrade of all meeting rooms and client areas on Level 1, including a new dedicated speaker prep room and Executive Client Lounge; the remaining specialist meeting rooms on Level 2 and the Bellevue Ballrooms located on Level 3 will undergo refurbishment in early 2017.

The venue will also be revitalised with a new bar and café with alfresco dining space and private dining room as well as improved signage and the installation of intelligent lighting across the venue. The information technology and Wi-Fi infrastructure has already been upgraded and can provide event organisers with sophisticated analytics around the movement and internet usage of delegates within the centre.

“We contracted Cirrus L7 to put together a state-of-the-art Cisco Meraki wireless internet solution for us, which can support up to 3000 users at a time,” Mr Keen said.

“Importantly, the new technology allows for seamless streaming of audio and video in realtime, meaning those who use our spaces can remain globally connected.”

Audio-visual capabilities have also been improved, with each of the meeting rooms, the Bellevue Ballroom and Riverside Theatre fitted with brand-new full high-definition laser projectors. The Ballroom has been fitted with four extra motorised screens, while five boardrooms, including the executive boardroom, now have 75-inch full high-definition monitors.
