Grain Bar has amplified its focus on the fine craft of drinking, with the creation of a unique menu matching premium spirits with house-cured meats and caviar. The only pairing menu of its kind in Sydney, Grain Bar’s new Cured & Caviar celebrates the distilling process by serving spirits neat and accentuating their complexities with caviar and subtly spiced cured meats.
Five pairings are featured on the menu, including: top quality Russian vodka and Yasa elite caviar; tequila and salt and lime-cured kingfish; hand-crafted gin and kangaroo jerky; fine Venezuelan rum and duck prosciutto; and single malt whisky and wagyu.
Cured & Caviar was created collaboratively by Grain Bar Manager Alexandra Dahlenburg and Head Chef Jared Reeves as a unique way to appreciate some of the world’s finest spirits.
“The idea behind the pairings is to showcase the wonderful work of master distillers and celebrate the time and passion that goes into producing premium spirits,” Alexandra said.
“Spirits are served in their natural form, as the master distiller intended, providing the opportunity to sip, savour and appreciate the flavours,” she said.
“In turn, we’ve created food pairings using top quality produce and taking our time curing in-house to ensure each match brings out the best in the spirits,” Jared said.
“We’re also serving each pairing in a way which maximises the taste experience, supported by tasting notes on the menu. The caviar, for instance, is served with a mother-of-pearl spoon to deliver the best flavour.”
Cured & Caviar will be available to enjoy at the bar, Sunday through Thursday, 12pm until 9pm.
