LATTE attended the official presentation of the new Honorary Consul of Monaco on Tuesday 6 September 2016.
The presentation was held at the Park Hyatt Sydney and saw the position of Honorary Consul of Monaco bestowed upon Mr Hadrien Bourely.
Mr Bourely will be responsible for looking after Queensland, New South Wales and the Northern Territory, and establishing relationships with yacht clubs in Australia to further develop partnerships between Australia and Monaco.
LATTE and other guests in attendance sipped on Chandon sparkling wine and a selection of canapés as Ambassador of Monaco to Australia, Her Excellency Madame Catherine Fautrier, welcomed guests and provided background information on Monaco before introducing Mr Bourely.
Monaco is the second smallest country in the world, at just over two square kilometres, and boasts one of the oldest royal families in the world. Monaco has 38,000 inhabitants, yet only 9000 are citizens, creating a large expat community representing over 140 different nationalities.
In terms of tourism, Australian visitors rank ninth out of the six million visitors the country receives each year.
Mr Bourely addressed guests saying the position was indeed an honour, and feels his Australian grandmother and Monégasque grandfather make him the ideal candidate with a unique understanding of both cultures.
In Mr Bourely’s speech, he thanked the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade, and HSH Prince Albert of Monaco for nominating him for the prestigious position.
