Le Moulin Rouge, champagne, caviar and French joie de vivre filled the ballroom at Sofitel Sydney Wentworth on Monday 5 September in celebration of AccorHotels’ 25th anniversary in Australia.
Themed ‘A night in Paris’, and hosted in partnership with Atout France, AccorHotel put on a glittering evening to remember for 400 special guests. Performers The Chicago’s were specially flown in from the Moulin Rouge in Paris and wowed guests with their acrobatics, while the Parisian-themed soiree also presented high-end sponsors including Christian Louboutin, Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Air France and China Southern Airlines.
On arrival, the G.H. Mumm Champagne and French caviar were flowing freely as guests were transported to a scene straight from Montmartre, with children painting on easels. An appetising three-course menu was specially designed as a collaboration between Le Chefs de Cuisine from So Sofitel Bangkok Paul Smart and Sofitel Sydney Wentworth’s Boris Cuzon.
Guests savoured poached Western Australian marron tail, Yarra Valley trout caviar, foie gras delice, bowen mango and passionfruit gel for entrée, followed by slow-roasted Milly Hill lamb noisette, organic garden spring vegetables, pea puree, jus and, to end the night with something sweet, a palet chocolate, praline and feuillantine.
VIP guests included the French Ambassador to Australia, His Excellency Christophe Lecourtier; Australia’s ‘First Lady’ Mrs Lucy Turnbull; Tourism Minister Stuart Ayres; and AccorHotels Honourary Chairman Mr David Bafsky.
Chief Operating Officer AccorHotels Pacific, Simon McGrath said, “We’ve come a long way in 25 years, growing from one hotel in Darling Harbour to more than 200 today and are delighted to share this achievement and celebrate in true Parisian style alongside our closest industry partners and supporters.”
AccorHotels 25th anniversary celebrations continue this week with the annual Showcase event hosted at Sofitel Sydney Wentworth on Thursday, where one lucky industry client will win a brand-new Peugeot 208.
