Lucerne Festival has been celebrating the finest in classical music since 1938, with famous orchestras, legendary conductors and virtuoso soloists collaborating three times a year at the idyllic location of Lake Lucerne. The artists perform in a concert hall designed by Jean Nouvel, renowned for its phenomenal acoustics and exquisite architecture, where they encounter an audience that is no less international and sophisticated.
Featuring different themes each year, the programme offers a wonderfully broad spectrum ranging from Mozart to the Modernists, from early music to avant-garde experimentation. This year’s festivities are themed Easter, Summer and Piano, and run between April and November.
New to the Festival in 2017 is the free Lucerne mobility ticket entitling participants to the free use of buses and trains (2nd class) in tariff zone 10, valid for the entirety of their stay. The Lucerne Mobility Ticket is personal, non-transferable and not inclusive of boat travel. The pass is issued upon check-in, however, the hotel reservation document (printed or digital) may be presented to the ticket inspector for transit to the hotel.
