Active Travel is offering a discount of A$1000 per person on a 9-day luxury train tour for independent travellers encompassing the European cities of Budapest, Vienna and Prague, if booked before 30 April 2017.
Guests will travel with Abercrombie & Kent’s exclusive Concierge Rail Service, enabling them to make the most of the three eastern European cultural capitals while travelling in comfort and style. The Concierge Rail Service enables independent travellers to journey by train on their own, with Abercrombie & Kent looking after private transfers between railway stations and hotels and organising bespoke tours for guests at each destination.
Along the way, guests will stay in stately hotels, including Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace and Hotel Sacher in Vienna. The tailor-made tour is available for travel until 31 November 2017, and travellers can choose their own tour dates. Qantas Frequent Flyers can earn points on the full price paid for the holiday, with one point earned for every dollar spent.
The tour will begin in Budapest, with a privately guided introduction to the sophisticated city situated on both sides of the Danube River. Guests can walk the streets of the ancient royal district, visiting Matthias Church and Castle Hill – a World Heritage Site with some of the city’s most important medieval palaces and museums. The next day will be spent visiting Europe’s largest synagogue and the Budapest State Opera House.
The tour continues by rail into the Austrian capital of Vienna, where guests will enjoy a walking tour featuring the Hofburg Imperial Palace and other key landmarks. Guests can choose their own adventure the following day and opt for a visit to the regal Schönbrunn Palace, or venture into the Vienna woods to the country town of Klosterneuburg, the former site of Roman fortresses, now home to an Augustinian abbey. The journey then continues into the Czech Republic, with a half-day walking tour around Prague’s Old Town and a private tour and recital at the Neoclassical Estates Theatre, where Mozart’s Don Giovanni premiered in 1787. Guests will explore the city further the following day, with a visit to Hradcany Castle – the former seat of Bohemian kings and holy Roman emperors. Australians will then return home from Prague airport.
Including eight nights’ accommodation and travel on Abercrombie & Kent’s Concierge Rail Service, the tour costs from AUS$8775 per person, twinshare, including the AUS$1000 discount if booked before 30 April 2017. Travellers can choose their own tour dates up until 31 November 2017. Qantas Frequent Flyer customers can earn one point for every dollar spent on the tour booking. Return flights from Australia to Europe are extra and can be booked through Active Travel.
