AIME’s new initiatives for 2018

The Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME), has announced new initiatives, including a new floorplan, refreshed Hosted Buyer program, additional trade buyer flexibility and networking opportunities for the 2018 show to be held on 20 – 21 February 2018 in Melbourne.

AIME will celebrate its 26th year of bringing together suppliers and buyers under one roof to conduct business meetings, network and learn from industry experts in 2018.

Overseeing the show for his third time, Ian Wainwright, event director of AIME, Reed Travel Exhibitions, said his team have been working closely with the show owners MCB to design and deliver a truly stand-out AIME in 2018.

“The changes to the program reflect the needs of the industry, the exhibitors and the buyers. We are mixing up the show floor layout, moving the theatres, and networking Hub to create more streamlined and centralised flow throughout.

“In 2017, we welcomed 3900 attendees, 55 per cent of which were new to AIME, and brought in Hosted Buyers with a buying power of $1.2 billion. That is why we are also introducing a an ‘AIME First Timers’ area to welcome exhibitors who are new to the AIME scene.

“The new Hosted Buyer Acquisition Scheme, takes a proactive approach to finding high-quality invitation only candidates. Quality has always been a high priority; this program ensures connection with the right network of innovative and top-quality contacts. AIME continues to be a pivotal pillar of the Events Industry in this region, one continuously reaching for better and bigger things; AIME 2018 is no exception.”

Other new initiatives to AIME include:

  • Early opening times – now from 9am
  • New sponsorship opportunities
  • Extended networking throughout the show floor
  • Trade Buyer flexibility allowing bookings and appointments without attending the full Hosted Buyer program
  • Fresh interactive educations workshops

Looking ahead to February, AIME has already secured some leading national and international exhibitors, including Japan National Tourism Organization, Hawaii Tourism Oceania, ICC Sydney, P&O Cruises, TFE Hotels, and Stamford Hotels and Resorts, with many more in the works.

Karen Bolinger, CEO, Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) owners of AIME, commented on the direction of the show.

AIME 2018 is where meeting planners and buyers join exhibitors for an opportunity to hold one-on-one meetings and access quality education and networking events, it will be held from 20 – 21 February 2018 at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.
