Aman has announced its next “island destination” will be in the heart of New York City. The company’s newest luxury resort will be called Aman New York, and is scheduled to open in 2020. The property will blend the vibrant pulse of the city with the soul of Aman, joining Aman Tokyo as the brand’s second urban destination.
The property—a combination of hotel suites and 20 private residences—will occupy 22 floors of Manhattan’s Crown Building on 57th Street and Fifth Avenue. Aman’s New York location will become the brand’s third in the US, following Amangiri in Utah and Amangani in Wyoming.
An unmatched address
Since 1921, the Crown Building has presided over the midpoint of Manhattan; the corner of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street, overlooking Central Park. Rising 26 storeys from the boutique-lined street, the building’s windows and terraces look out over the vast sweep of parkland and survey the world’s most recognisable skyline.
Calm and rejuvenation
Open to guests, residents and Aman Club members, a 2000-square-metre Aman Spa fills three storeys, with a 25-metre indoor swimming pool surrounded by fire pits and daybeds as its centrepiece. Two Spa Houses will provide guests with a spa journey, encompassing a double treatment room, sauna and steam rooms, and an outdoor terrace with cabana, daybed and fireplace.
A world of refined tastes
From the subterranean Jazz Bar to the wraparound Garden Terrace overlooking Central Park, Aman New York abounds with sociable spaces for dining, drinking and relaxing. Arva, the convivial Italian restaurant, is complemented by Nama – Aman’s interpretation of Japan’s washoku dining tradition – as well a Piano Bar, Cigar Bar, Wine Library and subterranean Jazz Club
Aman’s first urban residences
On the upper floors, there will be 20 private Aman Residences, whose owners will enjoy unlimited access to every hotel and Aman Club experience. These are crowned with a one-of-a-kind, five-storey Penthouse at the building’s pinnacle, which features swimming pools indoors and out, an expansive terrace and an activated cupola.
