The new InterContinental Perth City Centre may be located on the other side of the country, but its opening has been celebrated with as much enthusiasm in NSW as in WA. Sydney media gathered in the spectacular Australia Suite penthouse at sister hotel InterContinental Sydney on Thursday 16 November to toast the new arrival with Western Australian wines, champagne and red sangria martinis with GM Adam McDonald.
Guests were also treated to canapés showcasing the best of the state’s produce and inspired by the hotel’s collection of restaurants and bars. Paying homage to the cultural and luxury retail neighbours of the hotel’s King Street Precinct, guests also enjoyed a display of exquisite jewellery from partner, Kailis Pearls, and a performance from Emma Pearson, a soprano with the WA Opera. Guests were also able to take home a specially handblown glass piece created by WA artist Gerry Reilly, who is one of the 12 local artists commissioned to create over 300 artworks for the new Perth hotel.
InterContinental Perth City Centre is the sixth InterContinental hotel in Australia, nestled amid a charming heritage streetscape of theatres, cafes and high-end retailers. The new 240-room, 16-storey hotel was designed by Woods Bagot with interiors by Chada, and combines distinctly West Australian details with global design and hospitality experiences.
