Boutique hotel group Alila Hotels and Resorts has been awarded ‘Hotel Group of the Year’ at The Telegraph’s ULTRAs in London.

The ULTRAs awards ceremony took place at The Savoy, London, on Monday 22 May 2017. It was a celebration of the best hotels, airlines, tour operators and cruise companies across the globe.

Collecting the award from HRH Princess Beatrice of York was Two Roads Hospitality Asia’s CEO, Frederic Flageat-Simon. He said: “The ULTRAs is akin to an Oscar and we are extremely proud and humbled by this fantastic brand endorsement. We are constantly striving to exceed our guests’ expectations with our personalised hospitality in keeping with our philosophy of integrating commerce, community and conservation. I have no doubt this award will further inspire our team in delivering exceptional experiences for our guests in 2017 and beyond.”

2017 was an incredibly exciting year for brand Alila. July saw the opening of Alila Fort Bishangarh in Rajasthan, a 230-year old fortress that has been seven years in the restoration. Also opening in July was Alila Yangshuo in Guilin, China. This former working sugar mill has been transformed into a spectacular modern retro resort set against stunning landscapes with its own karst hills within the resort. Other openings scheduled for early this year are Alila SCBD in Jakarta, Indonesia, and Alila Bangsar in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Later in the year will be Alila Villas Koh Russey, a private island in the Koh Rong archipelago in Cambodia, and Alila Koggala in Sri Lanka.

Alila Hotels and Resorts launched in Indonesia 15 years ago. Today it is the contemporary luxury brand under Two Roads Hospitality and manages 10 hotels and resorts in India and the Asia Pacific region, including a luxurious Phinisi ship, Alila Purnama. A compelling mix of cultures and styles, each Alila hotel has been created by a carefully chosen team of architects, interior designers and artisans, meaning every property has its own personality and distinct sense of place. However, each one is proud to draw on Alila’s impeccable credentials: innovative design, style, a stunning environment, a commitment to sustainable tourism and a thoughtful, personal service.

The ULTRAs are one of the most prestigious awards shows in the travel industry. Voted for by 500,000 readers of The Telegraph’s Ultratravel, they recognise the world’s best providers of luxury travel experiences.
