Sage Hotel Ringwood has celebrated its official opening with a launch party that sprawled across the sociable spaces in the property’s fifth-floor lobby.

The new 120-room hotel crowns the renovated Eastland Shopping Centre, halfway between Melbourne’s CBD and the Yarra Valley, which is one of Victoria’s favourite wine regions home to some of the state’s best vineyards.

To celebrate this gateway location, a selection of local food and wine producers were invited to attend the event on February 8th and showcased their wares at tasting stations around the lobby lounge. De Bortoli, Chandon, Rockford’s Wines, Yarra Valley Dairy, Four Pillars Gin, Colonial Brewing Co, and Hargreaves Hill Brewing Company were just some of those in attendance.

The event was hosted by Channel 9 presenter Alicia Loxley and guests included Dee Ryall MP – state member for Ringwood, Next Story Group CEO – Anand Nadathur, Next Story Group COO – Sriram Chakravarti, Next Story Group chief design officer – Matthew Lai, Next Story Group senior manager, Business Analytics – Pei Yee, Next Story Group managing director, Australia & New Zealand – John Warren, Next Story Group vice president sales, marketing and revenue management – Darryl Healey, Next Story Group Area vice president, business development – Tushar Raniga, Next Story Group regional GM – Alex Billing, and Sage Hotel Ringwood GM – Marcus Dudley.

Alicia Loxley described Sage Hotel Ringwood as “one of Victoria’s best-kept secrets’’ with it’s location above the Eastland shopping, dining and entertainment precinct a Victorian first. This property is unique because it’s the first full-service hotel to sit on top of a shopping centre in the state which means guests don’t have to go far to indulge in some serious retail therapy,’’ she said during the welcome.

“And we’re on the edge of the Yarra Valley which is home to some of the country’s best wine and produce that’s sought after by local and international visitors alike.’’

Guests were entertained by Wilbur Wilde’s jazz ensemble, Happy House, models hit the catwalk to reveal David Jones’ Autumn/Winter fashions –  just a day after the collection debuted in Sydney – and the Sage Hotel Ringwood’s chefs created culinary treats to provide insights into menus offered to in-house guests.
