On Tuesday 1 May, Outrigger Resorts celebrated its 70th Anniversary at the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort in Hawaii, some 300 invited guests gathering to toast the milestone.
Invitees were an industry mix of media and general managers and staff from Outrigger Resorts from across the globe. The party began upon arrival where guests were greeted with purple frangipani leis and handed a requisite Mai Tai. Traditional Hawaiian music was strumming in the background while Outrigger’s CEO of four days (at the time of the event), Jeff Wagoner, mingled with arriving guests around the bar.
The lively vibe continued as guests were ushered towards the pool area where traditionally dressed Hawaiians in canoes relaxed in the water and singer Weldon Kekauoha began entertaining the crowd.
“To be able to have the opportunity to take on this type of role and this type of iconic company that has the history it has is really exciting to me, so I am really proud to be here.” – Jeff Wagoner
Speeches took place mid-way throughout the celebration where Jeff passionately spoke about his goals and excitement as the latest CEO of Outrigger Hotels and Resorts, which for the past 70 years has been an immersive experience for all travellers who stay by the staff who create a personal, distinct style of hospitality that allows the guests to feel at home abroad. Following the speeches, attendees continued to be treated by the attentive wait-staff who offered drinks and canapés while Amy Haniali’l and Josh Tatofi sang Hawaiian tunes and island reggae.
