A new partnership between Qantas Frequent Flyer and online travel company Luxury Escapes has been deemed a success, three months after the parties announced their arrangement.
In February, Luxury Escapes became the latest partner of the airline’s loyalty scheme, when Qantas Frequent Flyer enabled customers to earn Qantas Points on eligible holidays booked with the OTA, at the rate of 4000 points for $20 off their booking.
Late last week, the companies activated the second phase of the deal, allowing QFFF members to use their Qantas Points to book a holiday outright, or put them towards a handpicked holiday.
Luxury Escapes General Manager, Blake Hutchison, said customers could in-effect ‘upgrade’ their travel experience by using Qantas Points.
“We expect many of our members will jump at the opportunity to use a combination of traditional payment along with Qantas Points to upgrade their room from perhaps a pool-view to a beachfront view, or even extend the length of their holiday,” Hutchison said.
“In less than four months we’ve seen tens of thousands of Australians link their Qantas Frequent Flyer and Luxury Escapes accounts so they can start to earn Qantas Points when they travel with us.” Luxury Escapes General Manager, Blake Hutchison
Qantas Loyalty Executive Manager Commercial, David Young, said: “We know Qantas Frequent Flyer members like to use their Qantas Points to treat themselves so this gives them a new opportunity to book a more luxurious room or resort or enjoy a longer stay”.
“Making a holiday more affordable is at the top of the travel wish list for many of our members so we expect it to be a popular new way to use points,” Young added.
Members earn one Qantas Point per dollar spent on the total amount of their booking, even on used Qantas Points.
