Media representatives, including LATTE, were given an opportunity to meet with a number of suppliers from around the world who were participating in last Friday’s Get Global MICE-specific one-day show.

Held on Thursday evening at the Murphy Room at Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour, media personnel heard from reps from Alila Bali, Hawaii Tourism Oceania, Touchpoint, Travel Events Asia, Hyatt Regency Bali and Hyatt Regency Bangkok, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Rock and Roll Team Building, K&N Travel Associates, Santa Monica Meetings & Events, Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), Nanuku Auberge Resort Fiji, Nouvelle Calédonie Pacific Heart, Sun Time Square, Abu Dhabi Tourism and Marriott Hotels.

The press call gave organisations the platform to announce a range of hotel developments including the opening of W Kuala Lumpur for August 2018, new capacity and destinations from Hawaiian Airlines, a strong environmental focus across organisations such as K&N Travel Associates, which is banning disposable bottles and encouraging tap water instead of bottled at events. Other announcements included the launch of Rock and Roll Team Building, aimed at teaching guests about Hawaiian culture through a range of musical programs, where founder Ciaran Gribbin transported us to Hawaii with a Ukulele performance of Jack Johnson’s ‘Better Together’, while Chris Buckley, managing director of Touchpoint, took us through the advanced check-in system launching at Get Global.

Following formalities, media and representatives enjoyed a cocktail party, mingling over lamb kofta, filo-wrapped prawns, Peking duck pancakes, Vietnamese rice paper rolls and a selection of wine and beer.

Sally Miles from Japan National Tourist Office (JNTO) told LATTE the objectives for Get Global.  “We’re really looking forward to continuing to showcase why Japan is an excellent place for meetings, incentives and events. Especially with the Rugby World Cup coming up, we hope that more Australians take up the opportunity to explore Japan.”
