Abercrombie & Kent have released a batch of new itineraries for 2019, spanning Vietnam, Ireland and the Galapagos and Peru on the back of double-digit growth this year and next.
The luxury travel company’s President Keith Baron says new journeys for 2019 have been designed for “the culturally-curious traveller, who wants more than just a rest and a getaway.
“Both Vietnam and Ireland have attracted strong interest among our Tailor Made travellers. We received such positive guest feedback about going off the beaten track to explore the rural countryside and meet local hill tribes of Mai Chau, that it made sense to introduce a Luxury Small Group Journey across the country.
“For Ireland, we designed an exclusive group experience featuring private access to see the Book of Kells, as well as accommodations at the country’s top hotels,” Baron said.
In addition to these new destinations, A&K has combined two guest favourites into one epic itinerary with Wonders of the Galápagos & Machu Picchu, as well as redesigning existing journeys to enhance the guest experience. Travellers who want to explore South America will appreciate the addition of Iguazu Falls and Rio de Janeiro to Wonders of Chile, Argentina & Brazil.
A&K Luxury Small Group Journeys permit a maximum of 18 guests and are comprised of five-star hotels, boutique lodges and camps in one-of-a-kind locations, coupled with insider access opportunities, from private museum openings to visits with local people in their own homes.
The new touring options include:
- Vietnam: A Nation Revealed – Experience the contrast between Vietnam’s two largest cities: traditional Hanoi and modern Ho Chi Minh City. Cruise less-frequented parts of Ha Long Bay and learn about life in the countryside by exploring Mai Chau on a bicycle. See Hue’s Imperial Citadel, the former national capital. 12 days from US$6,495.
- Ireland: Splendors of the Emerald Isle – Marvel at the Book of Kells without the crowds during a before-hours tour of the Old Library at Dublin’s Trinity College. Explore restored Kilkenny Castle, including the on-site Butler Art Gallery. Savour Irish cuisine with a visit to a local chocolatier, a Guinness and Galway Bay oyster pairing and dinner at Ballymaloe House. Enjoy private tours of Jameson’s Distillery and Bantry House. Learn about rural life over a home-cooked lunch at a traditional dairy farm. Venture along the scenic coast of County Clare for dramatic views of the soaring Cliffs of Moher.
Nine days from US$6,995.
- Wonders of the Galápagos & Machu Picchu — Cruise for four nights aboard ‘La Pinta’ – a stylish expedition vessel – in the Galápagos Islands, choosing from a variety of activities such as kayaking, snorkelling, trekking or simply relaxing on shore. Marvel at the unique wildlife on twice-daily shore excursions that include nature walks led by certified naturalist guides. Explore the magnificent ruins of Machu Picchu in the company of an expert local guide and stay at the only hotel on site. Learn about centuries-old traditions in the Sacred Valley and meet the farmers and their children.
12 days from US$11,695.
