Lemala Camps & Lodges has this month added a new location within the Serengeti National Park in Eastern Serengeti, Tanzania. Lemala Nanyukie is a brand-new, luxury tented site, which sits on a grassy savanna dotted with rocky kopjes and is shaded by ancient acacia trees.

The 15 luxurious tents (13 standard, plus a family two-bedroom suite) are spaced well apart for maximum privacy. Some have extra day beds so triples can be accommodated.

“Lemala Nanyukie offers the ultimate in bush luxury: private plunge pools in each villa and sunken viewing decks with indoor and outdoor showers, with the bath tub opening up to the African bush. The unique stretched canvas design is new to East Africa and is engineered to ensure absolute comfort. The interiors are a mix of pure luxury combined with the highest quality furnishings to deliver the ultimate in bush chic,” Lemala Camps & Lodges’ Chief Executive Officer Leanne Haigh told LATTE.

Haigh said the location is ideal for photographers or those looking to experience “pure luxury in the bush”.

Features include an oversized bed, spacious lounge and generous bathroom with double vanity, shower and free-standing bathtub. The delightful wooden deck has sunken seating, outdoor shower and stunning corner plunge pool with views directly across the Serengeti’s magnificent grasslands.

With canvas walls, cathedral-like tented ceilings and broad hardwood decks, guests at Lemala Nanyukie can expect a light contemporary decor in a palette of whites and neutral colours, with warmth introduced by textured accessories, luxurious upholstery and wooden furnishings.

The main double-volume area features a comfortable lounge and bar, outdoor viewing deck leading to a refreshing swimming pool and indoor and outdoor dining areas. Additionally, Lemala will arrange special meals like bush breakfasts and lantern-lit dinners, and the campfire is perfect for a post-dinner drink and sharing tales about the day on safari. A separate spa tent among the trees offers secluded relaxation.

This area of the Serengeti is crossed by the thrilling wildlife spectacle of the annual wildebeest migration, but also has high-density game viewing at all times and is well known for its large concentration of cats. As such, Lemala Nanyukie will be open year-round, and safari activities like game drives and walks will be accompanied by Lemala’s highly knowledgeable and experienced guides.

Located to the East of Seronera, away from the crowds, the site is perfect for those exclusive game-viewing opportunities that are hard to come by in Central Serengeti.

Lemala Nanyukie is a 45-minute drive east of the Seronera Airstrip in Central Serengeti. It joins Lemala’s luxury collection, which includes the Serengeti’s Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge and Lemala Mpingo Ridge in Tarangire, together with Lemala Kilivillas in Arusha.
