Sydney’s landmark hotel, Sheraton on the Park, has now officially and ceremoniously relaunched as Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park. The 558-room hotel will now be operated by Marriott International.
Eight hundred travel advisors, media, private conference organisers, celebrities and digital influencers gathered across the hotel’s second floor on Thursday 15 November 2018 to celebrate the hotel’s new name in style.

The hotel’s Grand Ballroom was converted into a cabaret bar with performances from violinist Jane Cho, burlesque dancer Imogen Kelly, Meow Meow and Australian actor Tim Draxl, while the Hyde Park room operated as a pop-up martini bar-cum-jazz lounge. Both venues offered guests a seated meal of cheese boards served with Seppeltsfield wines, plus a menu of mains and desserts in the latter venue while bartenders whipped up gin cocktail creations.

GM David Fraser thanked everyone for attending and announced that the hotel was pleased to have won best luxury business hotel (continent winner: Australia & Oceania) at the World Luxury Hotel Awards, held at AYANA Resort & Spa, Bali, Indonesia on 10 November 2018.

The newly relaunched hotel also underwent a $50 million dollar renovation of its guest rooms, club lounge, Feast restaurant, Conservatory Bar and event spaces.
David Fraser said, “When we commenced our renovations, we sought to reimagine the elegance and sophistication of a luxury apartment into our guestroom design by creating a more refined and residential experience … We wanted to set ourselves up for the future by ensuring the new design reflects the more modern direction of the hotel but pays homage to its heritage.”

“We are honoured to receive the coveted designation of Sheraton Grand,” Mr Fraser said. “It is a wonderful testament to the exceptional level of service provided by our team.”
As a part of its global transformation efforts, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is reclaiming its position as the world’s gathering place, welcoming locals and guests on an unexpected journey of their city without ever leaving the hotel. The Heart for the City global experiential tour will bring to the life unique characteristics that define the culture of seven key destinations, including the new Sheraton Grand Sydney.
