Jumeirah Group has debuted a new retreat in the heart of Abu Dhabi’s mesmerising desert at Jumeirah Al Wathba Desert Resort & Spa. The resort joins two existing hotels in the UAE’s capital, Abu Dhabi: Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island Resort and Jumeirah at Etihad Towers, both in prime locations.
The resort draws inspiration from a historic desert village, while meandering courtyards and walkways allow for a sense of discovery. Water features and pools inspired by the natural falaj (water channel for irrigation) create a soothing energy, underlined by the constant sound of water. The quintessential Arabian-style property sprawls over 22,000 square metres of tranquil desert and comprises a destination spa, villas with private pools, Arabian-style rooms, a 1,000-square-metre pool and six restaurants and bars including Al Mabeet, a desert dining experience which captures the spirit of the past.
Adventure-seekers can enjoy fat biking through the dunes, desert treks, evening falcon shows, archery and destination dining experiences.
The resort’s pool stretches out into the desert and expands into secluded inlets and coves, including a pool bar with in-water seating. The destination Talise Spa offers a sensory experience with 13 luxury treatment rooms and private terraces. Rejuvenation journeys include Turkish Hammams, snow caves, hot and cold plunge pools and crystal-salt and cryotherapy rooms. There is also a dedicated yoga platform.
Cuisine draws inspiration from Arabian flavours and rustic tastes of Italy and the Mediterranean. Romantic poolside dining can be enjoyed at Panache or at the remote desert camp Al Mabeet, inspired by Bedouin traditions and the legends of Arabia.
Guests can discover a hive of gentle activity around the traditional courtyards and intimate spaces around the village square, bordered by the resort’s restaurants and souk.
Just 40 minutes from Abu Dhabi downtown and 90 minutes from Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, the resort is remote enough for escapism, yet ideal for exploring.
