Hyatt Hotel Corporation‘s boutique luxury brand, Andaz Hotels by Hyatt, has been earmarked to launch in the Australasia region in three years’ time, with a site pinpointed in Sydney’s CBD. Architect Woods Bagot has announced its winning scheme for the new 55-storey tower, to be built at 4–6 Bligh Street.

Currently Hyatt has 21 Andaz properties scattered around the United States (10), Europe and Asia (four in each region), the Caribbean and Latin America (2) and Middle East/Africa (1). The most recent addition to the network was Andaz Munich Schwabinger Tor, which opened late last month.

“Creating two addresses – one for the hotel operated by Andaz Hotels by Hyatt and the other for commercial uses – the project will be integrated among other commercial and hotel buildings, shops, restaurants and cafes. The competition was organised by Singapore-based investment group SC Capital Partners Group,” a spokesperson for Woods Bagot said.

The first three levels of the 55-storey tower will include an “urban room”, which will comprise retail as well as separate entries for both the hotel and offices. Commuters and guests can also utilise a discreet porte-cochère beside the shaded verandah that leads to gardens, grand stairs and retail. The upper levels will include a city brasserie and co-working spaces.

Atop the urban room will be a nine-level commercial office podium that will also include a pool, wellness centre, childcare services and more co-working facilities topped by roof gardens. The next 38 storeys will hold hotel rooms and suites which stop at the 50th floor. There, guests can enjoy a rooftop restaurant, bar and garden with panoramic views of Sydney Harbour, the Heads and surrounding parks.

Woods Bagot said the structure will also set two new environmental and planning standards for the city and is expected to be completed by 2022.
