Sir Richard Branson’s cruise venture, Virgin Voyages, is heading to Australia. Well, maybe not the cruise line itself, yet, but his team of talent scouts will be making a beeline down under in a couple of months in search of “Rockstar service” oriented people.
Virgin Voyages’ People & Culture Talent Spotters are taking to the road for the first-ever global talent spotting tour, and Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne are on the radar.
Development of the start-up cruise line’s first vessel, the 2,770-passenger Scarlet Lady, continues to progress ahead of the ship’s launch in February 2020. So now it’s time to sort out staffing.
“We’ve spent a lot of time developing a vision for our ship and what onboard life will be like for our crew and sailors. We’re ready for you to come on board and help make this vision a reality,” Virgin Voyages Head of Peope, Kasia Anderson said.
Over the next six months, Virgin Voyages’ talent scouts will be visiting 18 countries for all shipboard positions. Roles include Beverage, Housekeeping & Restaurant, Marine & Technical, Culinary, Sailor Services and Laundry. Specifically in Australia, Virgin Voyages is eyeing talent for Beverage, Restaurants and Sailor Services.

To assist locally, the company has appointed Zest Recruitment to spearhead the search. Zest Recruitment’s website is already boasting about the upcoming opportunities and is encouraging wannabe “Rockstars” to preregister their details now.
The tour kicks off in Europe at the end of next month, visiting Croatia, the UK, Italy, Spain, Ukraine, Belarus, Hungary, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Dubai, Mauritius, Brazil, Australia, South Africa, Jamaica, Mexico and Honduras.
They’ll be in Brisbane on 9 September, Sydney on 10 September and Melbourne on 11 September.
