South Africa’s The Blue Train has announced two unique departures in 2020 that will include an entire day exploring Kruger National Park as part of the three-day journey.
The exciting addition has been added to two round-trip itineraries from Pretoria, departing on 18 June and 30 July 2020, and is available for a maximum of 54 guests, so capacity is limited.
The Kruger element of the journey begins with an early morning arrival (5am) of The Blue Train into Numbi Train Station, where guests disembark and are straight into the action with a sunrise game drive in search of Africa’s Big Five and more. Afterwards, guests will enjoy a bush breakfast at an “exclusive, unfenced location” within Kruger National Park.
Returning to the train at midday, guests are treated to a five-course gourmet lunch served in The Blue Train’s Dining Car and are given time to rest before they head out again for an afternoon game drive on the Nkambeni concession – an 11,400 hectare envelope of land that stretches from Numbi’s gate entrance and Phabeni, to beyond Shabeni Koppie.
That evening, the gaming experience concludes with a boma dinner at Nkambeni Safari Camp and an interactive cultural experience, before guests return to The Blue Train at 10:00pm for post-drinks, cognac and Cuban cigars in the Club Car. The journey concludes on Day 3 when the locomotive arrives at Pretoria Station at 10:00am.
