Napa Valley with “The Createrer” in 2020

Eight-day gourmet itinerary with Tom and Edwina Rutherford

Stay in a charming Tuscan-style villa in the heart of the Napa Valley and dine at some of the region’s best restaurants and wineries on an exclusive holiday with the ‘createrer’ Tom Rutherford and his wife Edwina. A culinary expert who has catered some of Australia’s biggest and best events, from the legendary Cointreau Ball of the 1990s to this year’s Australian Tourism Exchange, Tom has designed the itinerary with the help of Edwina and the pair will host the immersive trip from 18 to 25 May, 2020.

The experience begins with a night at Hotel Vitale, a luxury boutique waterfront hotel in San Francisco, and dinner at rustic urban restaurant State Bird Provisions. Guests will then be transported in a luxury Mercedes Sprinter to Tuscan Napa Villa, which will be their home for the next six nights.

Just minutes’ drive from the area’s world-renowned wineries, spas and restaurants, the seven-bedroom villa was inspired by its owners’ frequent visits to the Italy’s famous Tuscany wine region.

Guests will dine on French cuisine at one of America’s best restaurant’s, Thomas Keller’s Yountville establishment The French Laundry. Many of the US’s top chefs have trained at the noshery, which is housed in a rustic two-storey stone cottage with a quaint courtyard which was built by a Scottish stonemason as a saloon in 1900 and later housed a French steam laundry. They will also enjoy lunch at MTGA Wines behind the hills of St Helena with winemaker Todd Anderson and American comfort food at Rutherford Grill.

There are also optional dinners under the soaring glass roof at unique indoor/outdoor restaurant RH Yountville and quintessential Napa Valley restaurant PRESS St Helena, which serves prime dry-aged beef grilled or roasted over a fire of almond wood, sustainable seafood and vegetables grown on nearby farms.

One night, acclaimed Californian chef Gina Robertson will come to the villa to cook, while other evenings Tom will take to the kitchen to showcase his culinary skills honed over 40 years catering events throughout the world. Guests can join in and help if they wish.

Participants will also experience a tasting at Chappellet Winery and a tour of the gardens with author, chef and entertainer Molly Chappellet, who-co-founded the award-winning Pritchard Hill establishment with her husband Donn in 1967, followed by a gourmet picnic lunch in the meadow overlooking Lake Hennessy.

Other highlights include a guided walk through St Helena with designer Erin Martin, an optional early morning balloon ride and a round of golf or spa treatment at Silverado Resort.

The Napa Valley 2020 itinerary has a maximum capacity of 14 guests.

Tom and Edwina also have tours planned to Russia, Spain and Austria in 2020 and 2021, plus Argentina in 2021.
