Silversea has named the Executive Officers that will host its World Cruise 2020, dubbed the Legends of Cruising. The itinerary aboard Silver Whisper is the first world cruise by Silversea to visit all seven continents, and departs Fort Lauderdale on 6 January, arriving in Amsterdam on 25 May 2020.
“Such an incredible journey necessitates the presence of an extraordinary team of experienced professionals,” said Barbara Muckermann, Silversea’s Chief Marketing Officer. “Fostering a family-like atmosphere among guests while on board, our industry-leading team will work to ensure an enriching travel experience for our guests, as they travel closer to the authentic beauty of the world.”

The cruise will be led by two captains during the nearly five months of travelling, Captain Vincent Taillard and Captain Michele Macarone Palmieri. French-born Taillard has been captaining since 2008 and joined Silversea at the end of 2015, while Macarone Palmieri is Italian and has been working for Silversea since 1994. Taillard will lead the ship until 7 April, at which time Palmieri will take over.
Cruise Director Fernando Barroso de Oliveira has also been with Silversea from 1994 and regularly hosts the company’s world cruises, and is the current Chairman’s Ambassador to the Venetian Society.
Expedition Leaders will be Stefan Krede until 15 February, who will then be replaced by Brad Siviour.
All staff members who will sail aboard Silver Whisper for the Legends of Cruising World Cruise 2020 have been hand-selected to ensure an extraordinary cruise experience for guests.

To enrich the experience for world-cruising guests, Silversea Cruises has also unveiled a collection of 33 brand new, bespoke shore experiences, which can be reserved only by full-world-cruising guests.
Travellers can embark on a musical and culinary journey in San Juan hosted by an acclaimed artist; attend a private performance of a world-renowned folkloric ballet troupe in Salvador da Bahia; delve into the Polynesian culture with a celebrated anthropologist in Moorea; savour a four-course lunch, prepared by a celebrity chef in Singapore; indulge in a candlelight dinner under the stars in the Red Sea desert; marvel at Caravaggio’s masterpieces in Rome’s churches and museums; and tour the Royal Yacht Britannia in Edinburgh with the last serving admiral, among other special experiences.
