Virgin Australia partners with Virgin Voyages

New "Tail to Sail" combination cruise and airfare packages released

Virgin Australia has introduced new airfare packages that are sold with Virgin Voyages’ cruises to the Caribbean aboard Scarlet Lady. The brand-new cruise line is set to enter operation in April 2020, with at least the first two seasons operating to the Caribbean from PortMiami.

Announcing the new alliance between the Virgin brands was Virgin Group founder, Sir Richard Branson, who was in Sydney on Tuesday [12 November, 2019]. The new ‘Tail to Sail’ packages are valid for travel from Australia to Miami,  flying internationally aboard Virgin Australia flights from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne via Los Angeles.

The internal domestic USA flights are operated by Virgin Australia’s North America alliance partner,  Delta Air Lines, but do require guests to transit in Atlanta as Delta currently does not operate non-stop between Los Angeles and Miami.

The packages are available through Virgin Australia Holidays on Scarlet Lady voyages through the US, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic. The four-night Fire and Sunset Soirees cruise, including Virgin Australia airfares, starts from $3,420 per per twin share. Other voyage options include the five-night Dominican Daze Voyage and the four-night Richard’s Birthday Bash.

Commenting on the launch of the inter-Virgin alliance, Branson said, “I’ve always loved coming to Australia and am delighted to launch this new partnership between two iconic brands in our Virgin family, which will bring more of our Virgin magic to Australia and allow Aussies to experience our wonderful new Virgin Voyages offering.

“I’m immensely proud of this new brand; in building it we took the time to think through every detail and craft a unique experience that brings to life Virgin and disrupts the travel industry. I can’t wait to hear what Aussies think of our new endeavour.”

Virgin Voyages’ Chief Commercial Officer, Nirmal Saverimuttu, said, “Our team is committed to disrupting the cruise category by providing a new, irresistible over 18 experience.”

“We’re thrilled to partner with Virgin Australia to bring this experience to life as well as embed Virgin’s inimitable service from start to finish to make Australians’ holidays epic,” Saverimuttu continued.
