Express Travel Group together with African Travel Specialists recently hosted 10 agents on an eight-day luxury safari through Kenya.
The group explored Samburu National Reserve, Lake Nakuru National Park and the Maasai Mara, staying in luxury tented camps and lodges and getting up close and personal with Africa’s wildlife over several safari game drives led by local guides Murage and Newton.
The local guides are expert navigators through the enormous wildlife reserves, knowing just about everything there is to know when it comes to safely tracking and observing the incredible African creatures in their natural habitat.
“The guides were excellent, sharing jokes and funny stories, teaching us Swahili, or trying to, running through animal facts and memories of past safaris, sharing what life was like for them growing up and how different Kenya is now,” said Express Travel Group host Jake Manwaring.
High points included watching a pride of lions with eight lion cubs, ranging from three to nine weeks old playing and pouncing on each other, and three lionesses, tracking prey on a hunt; sunrise hot air ballooning over the Maasai Mara; a village visit with the Samburu people, who were very open in sharing their culture and way of life; and watching in silence as a full herd of 15-20 elephants, including three calves, walked so close to the safari vehicle you could touch them.
The Enaidura camp in the heart of the Maasai Mara, set along the Talek River where it joins with the Mara River, was the absolute highlight for the group where they shared animal stories around the fire with the guides and the wonderful people who work at the camp.
