Hyatt’s boutique lifestyle hospitality brand, Thompson Hotels, has opened its maiden property in the US capital: Thompson Washington DC. Located in the emerging Navy Yard neighbourhood, the new hotel features 225 sleek guestrooms and suites, less than one mile from Capitol Hill and other major D.C. monuments and museums.

The newly built 11-storey property is designed as a sophisticated lifestyle hotel. The hotel’s façade and large industrial-inspired windows embody the historic industrial language of the neighbourhood, The Yards, a 17-hectare waterfront development at the centre of Capitol Riverfront’s Navy Yard precinct. Situated on D.C.’s scenic riverfront, outdoor parks such as the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail and The Yards Park are all just steps from the hotel, inviting visitors to walk around and explore.
The hotel’s 225 guestrooms, including 17 suites, boast floor-to-ceiling windows and views of the Anacostia River and Nationals Park. Two expansive Thompson Suites also feature stunning outdoor terraces with views of the Washington Navy Yard.
Thompson Washington DC’s signature restaurant is Maialino Mare, and focuses on seafood pastas and other seasonally inspired dishes sourced from local farmers and fishmongers, complemented by a robust Italian wine list and rustic desserts. A rooftop bar, Anchovy Social, boasts an airy atmosphere accented with nautical elements and sweeping views of the city.
Rates at Thompson Washington DC start from US$359 per night.
