In September 2022, Viking will offer a unique 44-day itinerary that sails from Tromsø, Norway in the Arctic Circle through to Whalers Bay, at the opposite end of the earth on the Antarctic Peninsula. The cruise was revealed in the newly rolled-out Viking Expedition Cruises’ brochure, which showcases Antarctica, The Arctic, Great Lakes of North America and the Galapagos Islands – uncovered first by LATTE.
The one-off ‘From the Arctic to Antarctica‘ voyage – departing 23 September 2022 – is on sale now, offered aboard the 378-passenger Viking Polaris, and includes visiting ports in nine countries (Norway, Scotland, Ireland, England, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina and the far-away lands of Falkland Islands and Antarctica). The voyage includes three days at the white continent and concludes in Ushuaia, followed by a chartered flight to Buenos Aires, Argentina where the itinerary ends.

Port calls in the Northern Hemisphere include Lofoten in Norway; the Shetland Islands and Iona in Scotland; Killybegs, Cork and Dingle in Ireland; and England’s Scilly Isles. Some of these lesser-known and smaller destinations are a treasure trove for port collectors. In the Southern Hemisphere, guests will stop in Rio de Janiero and Paranagua in Brazil; Buenos Aires in Argentina; Montevideo in Uruguay; spend two days in the Falkland Islands; and then cross the Drake Passage before spending three full days exploring Antarctica, and then returning to Ushuaia.
Passengers who love a sedate pace of life will have the opportunity to truly unwind and relax aboard the Polar Class 6 ship, getting to know the crew and every square centimetre of the vessel during the Atlantic Ocean equator crossing. The ship will depart Cork, Ireland on Day 14 and not see land for nearly two weeks (12 days), as it sails through to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, arriving on Day 27.

Included onboard Viking Polaris is Viking’s Culture Curriculum, which will include BBC Programming and TED Talks, The Met Opera, Munch Moments and classical musical performances. Passengers will also be able to experience one complimentary shore excursion or landing in every port or site.
The epic voyage is comprised of numerous cruise segments, including a 13-day Viking’s Northern Isles voyage, a 15-day Atlantic & Equator Sojourn and an 18-day Antarctica & South America Discovery journey. There’s also a collection of pre- and post-cruise add-ons, such as five-night packages in Iceland, Finnmark and Patagonia.

Brochure prices range from $51,885 per person twin share in a Nordic Balcony suite, through to the Explorer Suite at $104,085 (note the Owner’s Suite is sold out). The Viking website is currently listing the cruise priced from $47,995 as part of a special offer.
The Viking Expedition Cruises brochure also provides details on Viking’s core Antarctic program – a 13-day round-trip voyage from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia, with more than 20 departures on Viking Octavis and Viking Polaris in 2022 and 2023.
