African Bush Camps sets August debut for 15th site

Intimate new camp for Botswana's Okavango Delta

African Bush Camps have flagged an August 2020 launch for its 15th luxury camp in Botswana’s Okavango Delta, Kwhai Leadwood. Set in the community-run Khwai Concession, Khwai Leadwood will welcome guests to a beautiful setting shaded by leadwood and sycamore trees.

Edging the Moremi Game Reserve, the camp will offer a range of immersive activities including mokoro adventures, game drives beneath the sun and stars, and walking safaris among abundant wildlife.

Renowned as one of the leading wildlife areas in southern Africa, Moremi Game Reserve covers more than 40% of the Okavango. It is home to most predator species including wild dogs, leopards, hyena, and lions.

African Bush Camps’ collection of luxury sites are spread across Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The camp features six luxury twin/double tents and one family unit with capacity for 16 people. All rooms are designed for comfort and modern amenities include cooling fans, charging facilities and private en suite bathrooms. Outfitted with indoor and outdoor showers, and private decks with day beds and a shading canvas overhang, the tents ensure a year-round at-home feel pleasantly ‘disconnected’ from the hustle and bustle of working life.

Additional features include expertly prepared cuisine served at the communal dining deck.

The lounge and reading area feature a nearby bar serving African-inspired cocktails as well as wine and beer.

Adventure opportunities will abound, with daily game drives, walking safaris, and mokoro activities in the iconic ‘African gondola’ of the Okavango Delta led by African Bush Camps’ professional guides. Night drives will also be available.

Khwai Leadwood will welcome guests age seven and over all year-round, with access from the Khwai Airstrip just minutes from camp, and reachable by plane from Maun (30 minutes) and Kasane (1 hour).

Guests booking and paying in full before the end of April can attain a “never to be repeated” promotion offering savings of up to 65%, for travel before 31 March 2021. The special rates apply only when booking a minimum of three nights.

Opening year rates start at US$380 per person per night (for three or more nights), US$361 (six or more nights) or US$342 (nine or more nights).

African Bush Camps is represented in Australia by Ynot Concepts.
