LEGOLAND New York launch deferred to 2021

Opening of new attraction pushed back due to coronavirus travel downturn

Merlin Entertainments has postponed the opening of the new LEGOLAND New York Resort until next year. The family attraction was preparing for a launch on 4 July 2020.

In a statement, Merlin Entertainments cited the unprecedented situation with the coronavirus pandemic for the delay, saying the decision “is consistent with the closure of venues and postponement of events worldwide”.

“By opening LEGOLAND New York Resort in 2021 we are building an attraction that not only meets our high standards, it also gives our guests the best possible experience,” said LEGOLAND New York Resort Divisional Director Stephanie Johnson.

LEGOLAND New York Resort is located in Goshen, New York (about 100 kilometres northwest of New York City). It will feature seven lands and some 50 rides and family-centric attractions. A 250-room LEGOLAND Hotel will also open at the site next year.

All previously purchased annual passes or single-day tickets will be honoured when the resort opens in 2021. Guests who have booked holiday packages through LEGOLAND Vacations will be given the opportunity to be the first to book for the 2021 season.
