This week Emilie Hess, Director of New Caledonia Tourism Australia, shares with LATTE some of her personal favourite bespoke experiences in New Caledonia that travel advisors can confidently recommend.
My top three luxury experiences I would recommend in New Caledonia are:
- A spa treatment followed by an afternoon relaxing in the Aquatonic Pool at Chateau Royal Beach Resort & Spa in Noumea. Not only is the spa amazing, but the Aquatonic Pool is one-of-a-kind. It’s 300 square metres of space, including 12 hydro massage stations. Entrance to the pool also gives you access to the Sauna and Hammam, which are equally as relaxing.

- A tailored golf session at the only Dye Designs course in the Pacific, followed by watching the sunset over the UNESCO World Heritage-listed lagoon at Sheraton Deva New Caledonia Spa & Golf Resort. Located on the West Coast, about 2.5 hours’ drive from Noumea, it’s a secluded slice of paradise set in the midst of one of New Caledonia’s beautiful nature reserves. It also features luxurious private bungalows, that are perfect for a romantic getaway.

- And a luxury experience I’m particularly excited about is the refurbishment of Escapade Island Resort, which will reopen as Double Tree by Hilton Noumea Ilot Maitre Resort. The property is home to the only overwater bungalows in New Caledonia, which are perfect for exploring the 200-hectare nature reserve that the resort sits on – you can jump right off your balcony and swim with sea turtles, fish, dugongs and more.
