Westin Margaret River flagged for 2023 opening

New-build, five-star, 120-key resort and spa for WA wine region

Western Australia’s Margaret River region has been earmarked for the debut of Marriott International’s Westin Hotels & Resorts brand in the popular tourist region.

The new-build Westin Margaret River Resort & Spa will be located on the southern headland of Gnarabup Beach, offering views over the Indian Ocean and one of Western Australia’s most dramatic coastlines.

Slated for opening in mid-2023, the resort is expected to feature 120 guest rooms, including 45 suites, three dining venues, the trademark Heavenly Spa and provide direct access to the famous Cape to Cape walking trail, nearby national forests and ancient caves there is no shortage of nature experiences.

The site is located in the heart of the Margaret River Region which features world-class wineries as well as an abundance of premium produce and a thriving arts community.

“Expanding the Westin brand into the Margaret River region is important strategically, as the city is enjoying great growth and is not showing any signs of slowing down,” said Sean Hunt, Area Vice President, Marriott International, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.

“Visitor numbers are at a record high and are on track to increase by 5.1% in the next 10 years, as people seek out the beautiful beaches, world-renowned wineries and beautiful scenery that the South West Region is famed for. When opened, The Westin Margaret River Resort & Spa is set to complement the currently operating Westin Perth located in the Perth CBD as the ideal Perth City-Margaret River itinerary bookend for travellers.”

Marriott International partnered with Saracen Properties and Security Capital Australia on the project.

Westin Margaret River will join the Westin brand’s portfolio in Australia, with hotels opened in Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane and forthcoming in Darwin and Coolum on the Sunshine Coast.
