Revised opening date revealed for Sequoia

Six-star retreat to open in the Adelaide Hills

Mount Lofty House in the Adelaide Hills has revised the official opening date of its six-star luxury addition, Sequoia, to November 2020.

A separate addition to the original house, Sequoia comprises 14 bespoke open-plan suites. Originally earmarked to debut in December 2019, the delivery timeline had already been tweaked until mid-2020. The coronavirus crisis and government restrictions have seen the launch date delayed further due to the temporary pause in construction of the new super-luxe offering.

Work is continuing on the $15 million luxury lodge’s guest reception and lounge, breakfast room, gardens, sundeck and natural spring-fed hot pools which will form a secluded sanctuary with uninterrupted panoramic views across the patchwork Piccadilly Valley.

Sequoia guests will be able to choose from experiences that celebrate South Australian stories that are not available to the general public. Food and wine feature centre stage – such as lunch with some of the country’s top winemakers, a back vintage tasting of their icon wines and hosted behind the scenes tours.

Guests can get up close and personal with some of SA’s strongest luxury brands, tour the RM Williams factory in their own personalised pair of boots, or visit the nearby Jurlique farm where all the guest amenities available in Sequoia are sourced.

Nature will also be a key aspect of guest experiences with the surrounding Mount Lofty Ranges currently being considered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in addition to having one of the country’s largest koala populations.

Connecting with the estate’s history and that of the original custodians of the land, another highlight for Sequoia guests will be the twilight valley-rim campfire experience where they can enjoy a glass of Adelaide Hills Pinot while listening to local Indigenous stories.

Rates for the Escarpment Suite – one the suites within Sequoia – are listed on Mount Lofty House’s website priced from $750 per night for stays from August. (A spokesperson for the property told LATTE the full Sequoia development, including communal spaces, pool and landscaping, is incomplete and guests booking the Escarpment Suite will enjoy the Mount Lofty House experience until Sequoia is fully open in November).

Mount Lofty House will begin welcoming guests from 30 July 2020. See mtloftyhouse.com.au/
